Decisive Edge

Join the Core Team Building Calintro

Calintro is a company Decisive Edge is building. The roles below are Calintro's, not Decisive Edge's.

Calintro is an early-stage company developing a combination of software, training, and human support designed to help university students and new professionals develop the career-management, networking, and relationship-building capabilities needed to launch and manage their careers.

We are moving from product development into proof-of-concept and pilot execution. We have established a partnership with one Canadian university and are in discussions with other universities and potential partners.

We are now assembling a small core team to help take Calintro through this next stage.

Where We Are

We believe candidates should understand clearly what stage of company they are considering joining.

Calintro is pre-revenue and currently raising the financing required for its proof-of-concept, pilot, and initial commercialization. We are therefore not recruiting into a conventionally funded scale-up with established departments, large budgets, or fully defined roles.

We are building the team that will help create that company.

For the right people, that means unusually significant influence over the product, operating model, methodology, and culture from an early stage. It also means working in an environment where priorities will evolve as we learn from users, university partners, and the pilot.

The precise employment or contractual structure and compensation arrangements will be discussed with candidates as part of the recruiting process and will reflect the company's stage and financing.

Candidates selected to proceed to an interview involving confidential details of Calintro's product, methodology, technology, partnerships, or business plans will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement before that discussion.

The Roles

Working at Calintro

These four people will form part of a small core team working closely together.

The functions are deliberately interconnected:

Learning & Behavioural Program defines what we are trying to help people learn and how we determine whether it is happening.

Design & Visual Communication determines how people understand and experience it.

Product & Technology turns those concepts into a reliable software system.

Program Management & Delivery ensures that all of the workstreams, dependencies, people and commitments come together successfully.

The founder will initially retain primary responsibility for company strategy, financing, university development and commercialization.

That structure will evolve as Calintro grows.

The People We Want to Work With

Across all four positions, we value people who are:

  • intellectually curious;
  • comfortable challenging assumptions;
  • low-ego and collaborative;
  • capable of working independently;
  • transparent when something is going wrong;
  • comfortable with ambiguity;
  • willing to take responsibility rather than simply identify problems;
  • interested in building systems rather than creating dependency on themselves;
  • disciplined about commitments;
  • excited by the opportunity to influence something at an unusually early stage.

We are less interested in impressive titles than in evidence of excellent work.

We expect members of the core team to disagree with one another at times. Healthy disagreement, followed by clear decisions and committed execution, is part of the culture we want to establish.

Applying

Please provide:

  • Your résumé (copied and pasted in text format) and the link to your LinkedIn profile
  • A short explanation of why this particular role interests you
  • Examples of relevant work, projects or outcomes
  • For Design & Visual Communication candidates, a portfolio or examples of representative work
  • Anything else you believe demonstrates why you would be unusually effective in this role

Candidates who appear to be a strong potential fit will initially have a discussion focused on background and mutual fit.

Before Calintro discloses confidential information concerning its product, methodology, technology, partnerships, pilot plans or business strategy as part of the formal interview process, candidates will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

We are building the small group that will shape what Calintro becomes. We are looking for people who find that opportunity more interesting than inheriting a job that somebody else has already completely defined.
